Drop Spindles

Introducing "Give It A Whorl" drop spindles now available exclusively through Scarlet Fleece. We were looking for a drop spindle collection that would coordinate with our Wool Paint and a spindle that would function just as beautifully. "Give it a Whorl" is a colorful combination of polymer whorls and 2 types of wood shafts-either exotic wood like bloodwood, cocoboloo, or black walnut; or painted birch to match the whorls. The unique design feature of a small ball extending above the whorl with the hook attached is not only decorative, but functions to steady the spindle as it spins. The colors used coordinate with several colorways of our roving, "Wool Paint". We are starting off with 6 models-expanding the collection yearly. Each spindle is made by hand and so each will have slight unique differences. All are sealed with a beautiful finish for good looks and durability.

There are 3 sizes; Large for med to bulky wool and great for plying, Medium for medium to light gauge yarn, and small for light gauge to sock yarn. All models are available in the 3 sizes.

Sunflower - a sunflower shaped whorl of black , yellow, gold and copper, with a black walnut shaft.

Coffee and Raspberry Swirl - a disc shaped whorl with gold, burnt umber, raspberry and deep burgundy colors in a swirl pattern with a bloodwood shaft.

Pink Chocolate Swirl - a disc shaped whorl with rose pink, burnt umber, chocolate brown colors in a swirl pattern and cocobolo shaft.

Bird of Paradise - a disc shaped whorl with black, magenta, orange and purple in a swirly pattern with a birch shaft painted pearl black.

Poodle Skirt - a disc shaped whorl with bright pink, magenta, black and silver swirly pattern with a birch shaft painted silver.

Favorite Jeans - a disk shaped whorl with ultra blue, turquoise, black, silver and pearl swirly pattern with a birch shaft painted black, silver or blue.
